My story

I’m taking on 70K in May - but actually the target is 80 miles and much more as indicated above -  to help communities fight the climate crisis. This means I’ll be covering the distance in solidarity with millions of people who have to walk long distances for clean water or to sell their produce.

I'm working on the routes for my 2 x 40 mile cycle days at the end of the month, visiting places significant to me  (1) Waterperry - Thame - Tetsworth - Chalgrove    (2) Blenheim - Witney - Standlake - Hill End

I've also set up Go Fund Me fundraising page for OOLT (Oxfordshire Outdoor Learning Trust) for the Spinnaker Tower abseil. Yet to decide on the Hill End Outdoor Centre challenge!

In Guatemala, farmers like Aurelia are battling extreme weather, but with Christian Aid’s support, they’re learning skills to protect their farms and provide for their families.

Your support as sponsorship or by way of a birthday gift can help fund this vital training. Just £20 could buy two pounds of climate-resilient seeds, diversifying a family’s crop and increasing their resilience against the effects of the climate crisis.

End of week 1 : May 1 to 7

This week I cycled 66.38 miles, walked 16.05 miles so have totalled  82.43 miles. I'd hoped to ensure I walked at least one mile each day but the timing hasn't quite allowed that - cycled 4 days, walked 6 days

How your money helps

This Christian Aid Week, you can support communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

In places like Guatemala, extreme weather is destroying crops, deepening hunger and threatening livelihoods. But with the right tools and training, farmers can build sustainable futures.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • Provide climate-resilient seeds to help families grow food.
  • Fund water conservation techniques to protect crops.
  • Support vital training so farmers can build a sustainable future.
