My story

This year, Christian Aid Week is focused on Guatemala, where farmers like Aurelia are battling extreme weather brought on through climate change.

With Christian Aid's support, Aurelia is learning innovative techniques to make organic fertiliser, construct rainwater collection systems, and grow a wider range of crops including cacao beans, which she uses for making chocolate to sell locally.

You can read more about her story here: https://www.christianaid.org.uk/appeals/key-appeals/christian-aid-week/aurelias-story.

7 x 10k

I'm taking part in Christian Aid's '70k in May' challenge by running seven 10k runs throughout the month.

To make things a bit more interesting, I'm inviting anyone donating to guess the total time it will take me to cover the 70k. I'll be sending the winner a gift box of Guatemalan craft chocolate from Cocoa Runners (sadly we couldn't get any chocolate made by Aurelia's community).

Suggested donation of £5 to make a guess at my timings, but all donations of any amount will be gladly and gratefully appreciated.

Have a guess

Include a guess (in minutes & seconds) in the message when donating. To get you started:

An average of 5m45 per-km would be: 402 minutes 30 seconds

An average of 5m30 per-km would be: 385 minutes 0 seconds

An average of 5m15 per-km would be: 367 minutes 30 seconds

An average of 5m per-km would be: 350 minutes 0 seconds

The last 10k run I did was on 28th March where my average pace was 5m25 per-km.

Over to you!

(Please try not to guess the same time as anyone else as I'll be giving priority to the first guesser)

Thanks to all who have donated so far! I'm 3 runs in, and despite a slow start, my pace is picking up.

Next run planned for Wednesday 14th.

How your money helps

This Christian Aid Week, you can support communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

In places like Guatemala, extreme weather is destroying crops, deepening hunger and threatening livelihoods. But with the right tools and training, farmers can build sustainable futures.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • Provide climate-resilient seeds to help families grow food.
  • Fund water conservation techniques to protect crops.
  • Support vital training so farmers can build a sustainable future.
