My story

Thank you for opening the Christian Aid Week digital envelope for Bridge of Weir. Now please help to fill it up!

For nearly 80 years Christian Aid has played a vital role in tackling poverty and the causes of poverty.

Always working with local partners, its activities today include supporting refugees in South Sudan, rebuilding lives in Ukraine, providing relief for people in Gaza, developing rural enterprises in Malawi and helping subsistence farmers in Guatemala cope with the devastating impact of climate change.

But it can only do this with your help.  Please give generously by clicking on the "Donate" button. With governments cutting their international aid budgets, your personal support for the work of Christian Aid is more important than ever.

If you are a tax payer, remember to tick the gift aid box. Each year, this gift aid bonus raises an additional £800 from Bridge of Weir donations alone.

Thank you again for your support.

Aurelia’s story

This year’s Christian Aid Week story takes us to Guatemala.

More than half the population work in agriculture, yet Guatemala is a hunger hotspot.

Guatemala has one of the highest rates of stunted development in children.

Guatemala is one of the 10 countries in the world rated most vulnerable to climate emergencies.

In Guatemala, the climate crisis is destroying crops and causing hunger for Indigenous communities. But with training, farmers like Aurelia are fighting back.

Aurelia has faced extreme heatwaves that have killed her crops, but through Christian Aid’s partner, Congcoop, she’s learning to grow resilient crops, make fertiliser and conserve water. She’s sharing this knowledge with others, helping her community build a sustainable future.

This Christian Aid Week, please give to support farmers in the fight against hunger and the climate crisis.

How your money helps

This Christian Aid Week, you can support communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

In places like Guatemala, extreme weather is destroying crops, deepening hunger and threatening livelihoods. But with the right tools and training, farmers can build sustainable futures.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • Provide climate-resilient seeds to help families grow food.
  • Fund water conservation techniques to protect crops.
  • Support vital training so farmers can build a sustainable future.
