As the Church of the Good Shepherd Christian Aid representative, I have, for many years been passionate about supporting the work Christian Aid does in making a difference to the lives of so many.
Each Christian Aid week, our church fellowship and local community have raised an average of £2000 to support their
work . This money has been raised through our outstanding volunteers who have delivered the legendary red envelopes. This e envelope is also directly linked to The Church of the Good Shepherd Christian Aid Week fundraising page so if you are tech savvy and wish to donate on line please do so and please leave a comment . The amount we raise each year is also supplemented by our community fund raising events. This year we will , once again, be raising money to fight poverty and injustice worldwide by hosting The Big Brekkie Event on the 11th May in CoGS' Church Hall. From 0930-1200, we will be serving breakfast baps, both meat and vegetarian, and croissants /toast and jam with tea and coffee. Tickets for The big Brekkie can be ordered from jillcharlish@hotmail.com. or purchased at Church events beforehand. Please do join us at this popular community event .

Below are more details of the focus of this year's Christian Aid Week
In Burundi, malnourishment and poverty affect more than 70% of the population, putting them at the edge of survival.
Coming back from the edge isn't easy when food can be scarce, disease prevalent, and jobs hard to come by. If you have a home, chances are there's no electricity or running water, and it may not even survive the next storm.
Aline, pushed to the brink, was abused, homeless and hungry. But Aline pushed back. She found a lifeline through Christian Aid funded small business training and she set up as a grocery wholesaler. This meant Aline achieved what had seemed impossible, a vital income for her and her children.
