My story

Welcome to the Dean church on-line giving page for Christian Aid week, in which thousands of churches, irrespective of traditions, stand together to speak out for change.

The world has recently become increasingly uncertain unfortunately, but what is certain is that there are still those who are much more unfortunate than ourselves due to natural disasters, wars or both. Christian Aid’s long list of current emergency appeals reflect this, being currently focused on:

the Myanmar Earthquake Appeal;
the Sudan Crisis Appeal;
the Middle East Appeal crisis, centred on the humanitarian disaster still enfolding in Gaza.
the Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal, which is now in its 4th year;
the Emergency Fund Appeal, created to respond swiftly to support families in need when there are emergencies that don’t make the headlines in the UK.

Christian Aid exists to create a world where everyone can live a full life, free from poverty, to which end it has a general focus on helping poorer communities cope with the adverse effects of the climate crisis, with its unpredictable and extreme weather patterns, responsible for some of the above mentioned appeals.

This year’s Christian Aid Week appeal is again focused on helping communities, in a sustainable manner, to build up their resilience capacities to climate change and other shocks. A video of an example of what this means in practice for a community in Guatemala, ravaged by drought and deforestation, whose farmers were offered vital training and tools, can be watched by searching for Christian Aid Week 2025 on YouTube (full version 5 minutes).

Thank you if you decide to support Christian Aid with a donation.

How your money helps

This Christian Aid Week, you can support communities on the frontlines of the climate crisis.

In places like Guatemala, extreme weather is destroying crops, deepening hunger and threatening livelihoods. But with the right tools and training, farmers can build sustainable futures.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • Provide climate-resilient seeds to help families grow food.
  • Fund water conservation techniques to protect crops.
  • Support vital training so farmers can build a sustainable future.
