My story

Christian Aid Week is here!

It's one of the UK's best-loved fundraising moments and over seven days from 12th to 19th May, there are so many ways to fundraise.  I've decided to take part in our new fundraising challenge - 70k in May.  For the communities we work with in Burundi - which I visited last year - bikes are a critical and transformational mode of transport.

Inspired by Aline, whom I met in Burundi last year, I'll be riding from home to Ely Cathedral and meeting with the Rt Revd Dr Dagmar Winter, Bishop of Ely, and back again - a total of 70k.

Please donate and help work towards a world where families can escape the trap of poverty and fulfil their ambition

I've also not been on a bike that much this year so it's bound to hurt, if you're motivated by that sort of thing.

How your money helps

Poverty pushed Aline to the brink. She was abused, homeless and hungry. But Aline pushed back harder. With Christian Aid funded small business training, she achieved what had seemed impossible, a vital income for her and her children.

Fundraising this Christian Aid Week will ensure more people in Burundi get the skills and knowledge they need to push back against the inhumanity of poverty.
