This Christian Aid Week, Lidbrook Benefice (Box, Colerne and Ditteridge) is supporting families facing hunger in Nairobi.
Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so that their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future.
This Christian Aid Week, please help Christian Aid to lift them out of poverty and to leave it behind them.
We shall be:
a. Undertaking the 70km in May challenge, with a series of walks on 20, 21 and 22 May as part of the Diocese of Bristol's pilgrimage between Swindon and Bristol as well as supplementary walks in order to meet our 70km challenge.
b. Undertaking a cycle ride (3 to 13 years) at Colerne on Saturday, 9 May between 11 and 12 o'clock.
c. Holding an All-Age Community Concert in St John the Baptist, Colerne on Thursday, 28 May between 6 and 8pm.

Congratulations! This activity has reached 50% of its target of £2,000.00
We did it! We joined the Diocese of Bristol Pilgrimage for Wednesday 20 May, Thursday 21 May and Friday22 May. We visited over a dozen churches and community projects and added another 52km to our total, which reached 79km.
We experienced rain, cold wind and hot sun. Our feet were sore our backs ached, our energy was spent and we had some very early starts to get into Bristol. It was an extraordinary three days of walking with different people from across the Diocese. We stopped and prayed for the churches en route, sowing kingdom seeds and wild flower seeds as we went. We experienced the kindness of strangers, hospitality of churches, learned more about Black Lives Matter and pollinating corridors and had the joy of listening to a children’s choir.
At St Mary's Henbury we saw the earliest grave of an enslaved boy/man, named as Scipio Africanus, who died in 1720 at just 18, and within the church we read the Black Lives Matter plaque, which tells an important story of those enriched by such deaths. It was very powerful. So glad we have a fuller understanding but the heart breaks for the terrible injustice and squandering of precious human life.
The children were brilliant! They had so much energy, enthusiasm and fun and cycled over 70 miles between them! Incredible! Well done and thank you for your support.
We walked 8km on Saturday, 2 May and just over 19km on Monday, 4 May.
Our next event is the children's sponsored cycle ride on Saturday, 9 May between 11 and 12 o'clock for 3 to 13 year olds.
THANK YOU to our sponsors - please keep it coming!
Congratulations! This activity has received its first donation!
