My story

This Christian Aid Week, Lidbrook Benefice (Box, Colerne and Ditteridge) is supporting families facing hunger in Nairobi.

Parents like Fridah are growing food in small city spaces so that their children can eat. With tools, seeds and training, families can plan for the future.

This Christian Aid Week, please help Christian Aid to lift them out of poverty and to leave it behind them.

We shall be:

a.  Undertaking the 70km in May challenge, with a series of walks on 20, 21 and 22 May as part of the Diocese of Bristol's pilgrimage between Swindon and Bristol as well as supplementary walks in order to meet our 70km challenge.

b.  Undertaking a cycle ride (3 to 11 years) at Colerne on Saturday, 9 May between 11 and 12 o'clock.

c.  Holding an All-Age Community Concert in St John the Baptist, Colerne on Thursday, 28 May between 6 and 8pm.

d.  Holding special Christian Aid Family Services across the Benefice.

Please support us in supporting Christian Aid.  Thank you.

Planned events

We shall be joining Bristol Diocese during its pilgrimage from Swindon to Bristol on three of its days: Wednesday, 20 May; Thursday, 21, May; and Friday, 22 May.  We shall add additional days in order to reach our target of 70km.  Please keep watching for more information.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
