My story

In November 2024, I climbed Ben Rinnes, a hill (841m) near Dufftown looking towards the Cairngorms in one direction and the Moray countryside in the other.  I had no idea that six months later, during Christian Aid Week 2025 as it happens, I'd have to have an emergency but entirely unexpected heart operation.  So around Christian Aid Week 2026 I thought I should try to climb Ben Rinnes again and get together a group from my church (Midmills Church, Inverness) to join me.  A sort of celebration of there being life after heart surgery!  In the process I hope to raise a little more money for Christian Aid and its work in over 35 of the poorest countries in the world where hill walking for leisure would be an unheard of luxury.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
