In Guatemala, the climate crisis is destroying crops and causing hunger for Indigenous communities. But with training, farmers like Aurelia are fighting back.
Aurelia has faced extreme heatwaves that have killed her crops, but through Christian Aid’s partner, Congcoop, she’s learning to grow resilient crops, make fertiliser and conserve water. She’s sharing this knowledge with others, helping her community build a sustainable future.
This Christian Aid Week, please give to support farmers in the fight against hunger and the climate crisis.
This is how Christian Aid makes a long-term difference for poor people. It also provides immediate help in countries hit by war and natural disasters. Currently as part of the DEC initiative there is an Appeal to provide emergency supplies of shelter, food and water, clothing and medicines in Myanmar which was hit by a very severe earthquake in March. Displaced people in Ukraine and from Ukraine are being helped by church partners. Refugees from many parts of the world including Gaza and Israel and Sudan are given support.
Christian Aid continues to protest about injustice in the World. How the Climate Crisis caused mainly by the rich nations of the northern hemisphere is affecting the poor nations of the south. How there needs to be many more rights given to women to further empower them in places such as Africa and Guatemala.
