My story

Bearsted Area Churches Together (BACT) has supported Christian Aid Week for many years.  In years past we organised a physical collection around the village.  Today, however, sadly we don't have enough volunteers to cover the increasing number of houses, so we are moving to a online collection.

The theme of this year's Christian Aid Week is 'Push Back Against Poverty'.  Through its humanitarian response and longer-term development work, Christian Aid works with some of the world's poorest communities. Working through local partner organisations, Christian Aid enables responses to crises caused by war, natural disaster and climate change, alongside longer term development work which allows individuals and communities to take control of their futures and push back against the poverty that otherwise threatens to overwhelm them.

Working with communities from Afghanistan to Zimbabwe, via Haiti, the Middle East, Myanmar and Ukraine among others, the work of the organisation is saving and transforming lives - lives that are quite frankly beyond our comprehension.

Please give what you can so that they can continue this vital work and help people push back against poverty.  Thank you.

How your money helps

Poverty pushed Aline to the brink. She was abused, homeless and hungry. But Aline pushed back harder. With Christian Aid funded small business training, she achieved what had seemed impossible, a vital income for her and her children.

Fundraising this Christian Aid Week will ensure more people in Burundi get the skills and knowledge they need to push back against the inhumanity of poverty.
