My story

Credwn fel teulu bod galwad arnom i garu Duw ac i garu cymydog, a bod ein gweithredoedd (fel 70k!) yn gallu gwneud byd o wahaniaeth.

We believe that we’re called to love God and to love our neighbour and that our collective actions (like 70K!) can make a huge difference.

We believe that Christian Aid’s work makes a huge difference to people’s lives around the world, challenging the systems and structures that keep people poor, empowering communities to find sustainable ways out of poverty and responding to humanitarian emergencies.

We recently met friends from Christian Aid Kenya and heard first-hand about how they are empowering families who are facing hunger in Nairobi. Intense poverty means families have a daily struggle to feed their children. Secure jobs are hard to find, and most people earn less than a dollar a day to cover school costs, rent and water. Some days there isn’t enough for a meal.

Christian Aid’s partner, Beacon of Hope, are providing tools, seeds and specialist training so that families can learn how to make the most of a small space in the city to grow a steady supply of fresh vegetables to cook or sell.

Their pioneering work is reaching hundreds of families, supporting them to grow hope, And the impact of this work multiplies more than we can imagine.

The money we raise in our Teulu Tutesigensi 70k in May challenge will help Christian Aid partners empower vulnerable communities to find practical sustainable ways out of poverty.

We’d love to invite you to give towards this amazing work.

How your money helps

You can support families facing the daily stress of food insecurity in Nairobi.

In the crowded and noisy settlements of Nairobi, parents like Fridah wake up knowing they must earn money – otherwise their children won’t eat that evening. But with tools, seeds and training from our partner, Beacon of Hope, families can grow nutritious vegetables in small city spaces and grow hope for the future.

Every pound you raise could help:

  • provide seeds and tools so people can grow food in small spaces.
  • fund training so people can plan ahead and protect their livelihoods.
  • support community-led projects that strengthen food security and incomes.
