My story
I’m taking on 70K in May to help communities fight the climate crisis. This means I’ll be covering 70 kilometres in whatever way I choose, in solidarity with millions of people who have to walk long distances for clean water or to sell their produce.
In Guatemala, farmers like Aurelia are battling extreme weather, but with Christian Aid’s support, they’re learning skills to protect their farms and provide for their families.

Updates
Went to The Vyne owned by the National Trust and after refreshing coffee and scone we walked around the woods here. Whilst walking we heard a cuckoo and a raven as well as the usual robins and blackbirds. Also lots of Greylag Geese had young goslings on the river.
Managed to keep the walking going as dog sitting at present so have walked around Woodford Park in Woodley these past few days. Canadian Geese, a Moorhen and Coot all have babies that they are teaching to feed and swim. Also saw a Grey Heron on the edge of the lake - we are so lucky to have water in this area where the wildlife can be sustained.
We travelled back today to Reading but stopped at Hidcote Manor Gardens run by the National Trust on the way back. Walked around the very beautiful gardens and found a rare queens Lady Slipper Orchid tucked away in a corner (not native to this country).
Ware staying in Alcester near Stratford today and managed to fit in a 4.5km walk along the river and round a local nature reserve. Very pleasant weather but nothing too unusual noted today.
Walked from Marlow Common to Homefield Woods and back. Saw some Bird's Nest Orchids - very difficult to see in the Beech Woods as they don't have any chlorophyll so merge in with the dead beech leaves and Homefield Woods one of the few homes in Britain that have Military Orchids. We also saw some Fly Orchids just developing their first "fly" flower. Along the hedgerow in the sunshine we also found some Bryont Ladybirds which aren't meant to occur in this area - even creature habitats are spreading with the planet warming up.

After a day's rest yesterday I walked around Sandford Lake at Dinton Pastures on my way home from work. Quiet time of day not too much to see - saw a Great Crested Grebe diving for food. Have walked 21.4km so far so slightly ahead of target distance.
Day 5 and as we are fortunate enough to have a Bank holiday in the UK today managed a circular walk starting at Goring along the Thames towpath and incorporating Hartslock reserve where I was able to photograph the rare Monkey Lady Hybrid Orchids. Weather was the typical dull (and cold) bank holiday. 17.8km walked to-date!!

Very pleasant walk down and round South Lake. Saw 2 sets of 5 goslings (Canadian) and 4 cygnets with mum and dad. Rhododendrons starting to look lovely. Still up on distance target (3.88km) but need to get ahead as busy weeks comingup.

Walked around Woodley in the heat of today although the breeze kept it fairly pleasant - nothing compared to the heat in some countries. Had 11 Red Kites circling above at one point - reminded me of the first time I ever saw one of these majestic birds in the Chilterns strangely enough on a 20 mile Christian Aid walk back in the 1980s. 1.6km up on my target to-date!
Walked 5km on Friday 2nd May around Warburg Nature Reserve. Combined it with survey counting Early Purple Orchids and saw some lovely Bluebells too. Luckily I only have to carry the water that I need to drink whilst out and not the amount of water needed by my family for the whole day!
